How much town customization is allowed in AoC?

Is it just like buying additional pre made places that fall into a pre made arrangements or can you mix and match components in different ways? Like extend this wall x length.

Lug told me he had to build each wall part... like 60 pieces...so yea, I think you can extend it, and mix stuff.
