The thing is that mages and archers cannot use mounts while using their abilities. I understand that a mount might get them to where they need to be faster, but it wont help very much skill-wise.

Mounts should be used for scouting, transportation, and cavalry divisions. Short and sweet. Must be a Grunt, no matter what your profession is, to use as transportation. Must be designated as a Scout with proper qualifications and permission to use on scouting missions. Cavalry must show great skill in Darkfall combat and be given permission and proper status.

the mount isnt used to help them "skill wise" its suposed to help "support" us battlefield wise. If you have a mage, lets say a bunemendr, and he wants to heal a fellow orc but cannot do so because he can not get there in time and his spells are out of range, then his skills are wasted anyways because he dosnt have sufficient means of getting there. im sure he can get off of the mount and then begin using skills.

This thread is retarded, most all discussion we can have up to this point is moot, because when it comes down to it nobody knows jack shit about DFO. I'm guilty of starting my fair share of these.

If I need a mount to fight I'm going to use one, if Bloodclan won't let me do that in DFO then they will have to make do without me. Let's not impose arbitrary restrictions so soon, OK?

The worst thing we could do is restrict ourselfs an advantage at the start of darkfall that would only slow us down from establishing ourselves, lets wait for it to release then make these decisions.

Yeah, I agree with tip, but even if they do become class restricted during fighting, I think they should be allowed by all orcs when not at a raid or fighting anything.

To respectfully counter this point, when has Bloodclan ever used mounts on a combat class? Ever? To make this statement is to say one of Bloodclan's founding rules is no longer valid. I disagree with that.

I can see the utility of them in this game, but we can't be too drastic in changing some of the founding clan values. Personally I think mounts should be used for transportation and logistics purposes only, such as they have been allowed for Mak'rs in the past. In this new game, I could see that upgraded to quick non-engagement scouting, transportation to and from base/fort locations, and transportation to and from battle areas, but not as a main combat unit. Perhaps special events for war riders, a scheduled raid or war, but I don't think making them an everyday combat class is keeping up with tradition. I'd just hate to see every new pug go solely for mounted combat as they rank up (as it will probably make PvP easier) and Bloodclan loses the ground fighting skills it is renowned for.

Also, as a side note: Grunts should be on the ground fighting with the gruntees, leading and teaching by example. This builds trust and teamwork, think about the first time you got that cross-heal in UO and watched the magic happen. Having our veteran orcs riding away from the less experianced does not sound like a good idea to me.

I like the orcish cavalry idea, but it needs to be heavily restricted in order to stay true to what sets Bloodclan apart, in my opinion.

Course the game is not even open for Beta yet...probably a moot point. Really hoping it gets out soon! I want to reincarnate Gak one of these days.
