Well since magery can't be used on mounts, as far as what the devs said...
...and I am very active on df forums to some that may disagree in another thread, and not loging on during specific times each day doesn't make me inactive on UO... And I'm graduatiing with two years of college done... Hoowah skah hedz...
^^ rant over
IMHO mounts should be used by a trained class of orcs that are all capable of staying in certain formations, whether the formation is for charging through a croud, staying on the outside of the battle to pick off enemies that retreat, or any others that come up. Maybe each grunt can choose one gruntee to ride as their guard, or something of that sort. I just don't want to see every orc that is gruntee or above allways be riding a mount.

Maybe I'm being pessimistic here but I think mounts will be painstakingly difficult to coordinate. Unless a tactic has a 30 second learning curb and any idiot can do it with little to no explanation I'm against it.
Bloodclan has become powerful because we recruit from a wide spectrum of people who all are molded into using the same simple tactics. The only simple way I can see incorporating mounts is using them as bait or as scouts in very small numbers. Please stay with time honored simple tactics over complicated tactics that will decentralize group fighting power.

Both bows and magic cannot be used while mounted. I just don't see us using it for much more than transportation.

From the other mount poll.
Quote:
After reviewing the matter again after a month, I have decided that it would be best for mounts to be used for cavalry, officers, and transportation.
For Cavalry: Cavalry will be a swift, powerful, and extremely damaging weapon within a Darkfall strategist's arsenal. Able to shatter front lines to pieces, rip through flanks, and sneak up from behind, a single cavalry division of elite players could be an essential and devastating tool to a clan's success.
For Officers: Darkfall has very unique siege mechanics. The clan leader, and the clan leader only, must activate a special item called a Challenge Shard. When the Challenge Shard has been activated, all of that clan's assets become vulnerable, but so does the opponent's city. After the Challenge Shard has been activated, the leader appears as a blip on the maps of both the clan and the opponent. From here on out, the clan leader must stay alive, summon siege weapons, and organize tactics to bring down the opponent's clan stone while remaining alive. Officers being on mounts will not only give them the extra speed to evade stray attackers, but also allow his comrades to recognize him and protect him.
For transportation: As I have stated before, the Darkfall Devs have stated that it takes 4 hours to cross Agon on foot. Broken up proportionally, this means that it will take almost an hour or two to get from the Orkish region of Morak to the neighboring Dwarf and Human regions. Mounts could cut this time significantly, and will also give them the ability to get safely out of ambushes and other problems.

ah crap, I voted wrong.
-1 Grunt and above?
+1 Grunt and above (Magic orcs not allowed)
I still say magic should be mojo specific.

I said grunt and above, I think of the mage orc class as a helpfull class that helps and assissts all orcs with healing and crimping, having them able to be on a mount and get to were they are needed on our front and back lines the fastest would only enhance there ability to assissit.
Think Kurg'Grat on a mount, pls dont think of Zak'Zull, hes a poor example of orc mages.
